Policy Priorities
Affordability, Housing, and Rent Stabilization
Providence is becoming increasingly unaffordable, with rents rising far faster than wages and too many residents being pushed out of Ward 13. Housing is a human right and the city needs to take a more active role in addressing rising rents, displacement, and housing insecurity.
I strongly support rent stabilization, and will fight hard every day until it becomes law. Corporate landlords should not be able to raise rents by unlimited amounts with no reason at all.
And also solving the housing crisis requires a comprehensive approach: I believe we can do multiple things at once. Alongside protecting tenants and cracking down on corporate greed, I support building more housing at all income levels. Our housing shortage demands bold solutions and real investments, including social housing.
In addition, we must also ensure that neighbors experiencing homelessness have access to shelter, supportive services, and pathways to stable housing.
Immigration & Racial Justice
Under the leadership of Council President Rachel Miller, the City Council enacted some of the strongest sanctuary policies in the country, making clear that Providence Police cannot voluntarily cooperate with ICE and that there will be consequences for those who do. I will proudly continue that work and ensure that city resources are used to protect immigrants.
At the same time, neighbors across our city have stepped up to protect one another through efforts like the Deportation Defense Line. In City Hall, I will be a strong partner to organizers and advocates, working to ensure they have the resources and support they need to keep our communities safe from ICE terror.
Safer Streets
As someone who frequently walks, runs, and bikes, one of the things I love most about our neighborhood is being able to get around without relying on a car. I believe Providence should invest in safer streets, better sidewalks, traffic calming, bike infrastructure, and a strong RIPTA bus system so residents can move through the city safely, affordably, and easily. These investments make our neighborhoods healthier and more connected, support local businesses, and ensure that we all can get where we need to go safely.
Public Education & Youth Opportunity
Every young person in Providence deserves access to safe, high-quality public schools, and every teacher deserves strong support. We have no greater responsibility.
As Providence Public Schools returns to local control, I will ensure the School Board has the resources and support it needs to be successful, and I will fight year after year to fully fund our schools. Providence also has an incredible ecosystem of youth organizing, much of it rooted in Ward 13. Young people’s voices, stories, and experiences should help guide the future of their schools.
